EXCELLENT Based on 42 reviews Posted on TripadvisorLou W Learning about Tanzania with Safari Sasa. I can only give 5 stars? I would rate Safari Sasa with so many more. Our experience was incredible and Abi is a skilled, talented and brilliant guide. He and Deb planned our safari with attention to detail, but also left time for spontaneous activities. We saw 105 lions and, with Abi’s focus and searching, my husband added 85 birds to his life list! For the non-birders, that is a lot of birds. I would encourage anyone thinking of a safari to work with Abi and Deb, Safari Sasa will exceed your expectations! You will have the trip of a lifetime!Posted on Tripadvisorderwin424 Amazing Abi and Deb at Safari Sasa My wife and I just returned from a 10 day safari in Tanzania. We visited Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. It was our first safari and, aside from a two day stay in Morocco, our first trip to Africa. Ibrahim David (“Abi”) and his wife, Deb, owners of Safari Sasa arranged the trip and guided us throughout our journey. We were three couples, one of whom had travelled with Abi and Deb many times; my wife and I, and the other couple were newbies. Abi and Deb (Safari Sasa) exceeded our already high expectations. Let me start off by saying that Abi loves his country and his culture. He greeted us everyday with an infectious smile and stories about his life and local culture. As you may know if you are considering a Safari, each day starts very early, particularly for people on vacation. Abi’s zeal and a good dose of coffee were the perfect pick me up when it would have been easy to sleep in and enjoy the comfortable beds and morning vistas at our various lodges. In regards to lodging, we generally stayed at semi-permanent “eco-lodges” in or quite close to the parks that we visited. By semi-permanent I mean framed huts that had canvas walls. They were all spacious with generally plush bedding, luxurious bathrooms and expansive views of the surroundings. Most had swimming pools and poolside refreshments which allowed us to refresh after our three to four hour safari sessions. Abi and Deb mixed in a few more permanent lodge/hotels – the Four Seasons Serengeti and Kitela Lodge in Karatu (my personal favorite). We moved around a lot as we wanted to see the different ecosystems – the Serengeti is dry and dusty and the epicenter of the Wildebeest migration, Karatu was high elevation and more tropical, Ngorongoro was a mix with an incredible array of species living together. We also were following the Wildebeest migration. Be prepared for lots of vehicle time; a good road in this part of Tanzania is reasonably flat gravel and dirt, a lesser road of which there are many will have ravines and obstacles that make for slow passage. And, of course there are animal populations everywhere, so expect lots of stop and go. We generally stayed in locations for one night in order to maximize our experience. When we do this again, I would favor more two night stays to get added relief from the drives. Abi and Deb handled any issues that arose, there were few really, to insure that we got the most of our experience. A few of us wanted to fly from Serengeti back to Arusha instead of driving six plus hours on the final day of our trip. Deb made the arrangements and remained involved afterward when the local carrier messed up the billing. I am pleased to say that everything was perfectly resolved within two days of returning home. So, I loved this trip. Of the parks, I particularly loved Ngorongoro and Serengeti. I felt that Tarangire was like an introduction to the wildlife and scenery of Tanzania; Ngorongoro and Serengeti were the “real” thing. The drive to both was long but an adventure and well worth the time we spent getting there. And finally, Abi and Deb were amazing. We began our journey with them as customers and guides; I would like to think that we ended it as friends.Posted on TripadvisorDiscover301729 Safari Sasa! July 2023 July 2023 Safari Sasa was recommended long time friends who live in east Africa. I contacted Safari Sasa to inquire about the trip. I let them know my time frame, and they were able to provide options for what could be done in that time. Some of the places to see were not practical, due to my limitations on time. Deb, co-owner along with Abi, was excellent to work with. We sorted out a trip that included the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Ndutu and Tarangire National Park. They also made all of the lodging and meal arrangements. They provided options of lodging for each night that I could choose from. They provided a mid range option and luxury option for each night. I went with the mid range options, which were all excellent. Abi provided a lot of information about each of the areas as we in them, from the environment to the animals and beyond. I very much enjoyed the time with him. I should, note that I was the only one on the safari, so it was customized to what I had asked for. Abi, did make some recommendations to alter the original plan, to avoid some crowding on one of the days. I appreciated his willingness to continue to optimize the schedule while we were on the trip. In the short time I was there (4 nights), was able to see so much. All in all, I had an excellent trip, and was happy with every step of it. I hope to be able to return again in the future and take another trip with Safari Sasa!Posted on TripadvisorSteve P 2nd time with Safari Sasa and still raving 5 years ago I brought my son on Safari with Abi. It was fantastic. This time I had to bring my wife. Again, it was an over-the-top great experience. Abi is very experienced and competent, but not at all tired or jaded. He is super excited to find the best the bush has to offer. He cares for his clients as well. If you are eager to engage with the amazing environments of East Africa, Safari Sasa (Safari "Now" or better translated Safari "lets DO IT with gusto") is the best you will find. We got the connection to Abi from friends who have lived most of their lives in East Africa and now we count Abi and Deb (his partner) as friends. Now to convince my daughter to join me on a third safari with Abi. I told my wife before the safari that the one safari critter I really wanted to see again was an "Abi" ... and I'd love to hang out with him yet again.Posted on TripadvisorTobi H. Great Safari in Tansania We came to Tansania and wanted to do a Safari there. Safari Sasa answered very quickly and figured out the best offer for us! The day in the Taranqire NP was amazing and we had a lot of fun - Abi, best guide ever, knew where to spot all the animals we wanted to see with lots of information. Also the service before, during and after the Safari was amazing - I did several Safaris in South Africa, Zambia and Malawi, but this one with Safari Sasa was the best, thanks a lot and looking forward to come back to Tanzania soon!Posted on TripadvisorLinda A The best! In the midst of the pandemic after a flight to LAX, followed by flights to AMS and JRO, I along with a friend landed at Arusha Kilimanjaro, where we were met by Safari Sasa owners Ibrahim Andrew (Abi) and Deborah Geisler (Deb). The next 21 days were filled with both excitement and tranquility. Who expected to be greeted with bouquets of roses? This attention to detail was an indication of things to come. Abi knows the areas of Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Ndutu, Serengeti, and Mkomazi like the back of his hand. He is an excellent guide, driver, and animal spotter, and I felt completely safe. This was my second safari with Abi: 7 years ago I was in TZ for 30 days. He made a positive impression. His knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, love for wildlife, and his genuine kindness are unsurpassed. Deb packs the best boxed lunches in the world! She arranged the best trip itinerary possible. I pushed this responsibility onto Deb and Abi given the pandemic. Deb even did some shopping for me. She, too, displays a kindness that will be remembered. A special person. Did we see wildlife? Oh yes. We saw it all, and lots of it! I want to return NOW, and believe me, my trip will be booked with Safari Sasa! 5 stars.Posted on TripadvisorIla R Wonderful experience This was my 3rd safari and by far the best one. Abi (Ibrahim) is always upbeat and does everything possible to give you an experience of a lifetime. His upbeat attitude is amazing, and he worked so hard to make sure I got great pictures. I’m already looking forward to a return trip. It was great to get away from COVID for awhile, I felt completely safe while in Tanzania.Posted on TripadvisorPeter Incredible service with SAFARI SASA I had a great time with SAFARI SASA. It was incredible. I have climbed the Kilimanjaro and requested this by mail. Unlike all other inquiries, I have a detailed answer to all questions. No matter how many I asked. They took care of everything, picked me up by the airport, booked hotels, booked a mountain guide and carriers and so much more. They even driven me to the bank, so I can do some work i had. I know not how I can thank you for this great service. After the mountain tour, they have prepared a great surprise for me and drove me back to the city. In addition, the general knowledge is overwhelming. I can recommend to everyone who really wants to book a great experience! I'll definitely make it again. Posted on Tripadvisorchickyskids Best safari experience out of 6 trips Over the past 30 years, I’ve been fortunate to spend 3 months on safaris in Tanzania(3x), South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. My experience with “Abi” (Ibrahim Andrew), owner of Safari Sasa, was the best one yet- by far. If you are trying to figure out which company to trust with your dream trip, I wholeheartedly urge you to book with him. I previously met Abi 7 years ago when I complained about the guide assigned to me and my daughter at one of the Serengeti camps, and they brought Abi in as a replacement. In our two days together, he impressed me not just with his unbelievable knowledge of the wildlife and country, but his positive, passionate love for what he does and his heartfelt desire to ensure we had the very best experience possible. (I think my original review of him is somewhere back on this thread.) This time around, my wife and I wanted to take our 4 kids- ages 15-24- on a family trip of a lifetime. I called Abi directly this time and he planned out everything. There was no need to go through a middle man/agency. He helped figure out where to go and how long to stay in each place. He had a wide array of lodges and tented camps to choose from. He also arranged a couple of visits to local tribes way off the beaten path (not the typical tourist ones) with Masai and prehistoric Bushman that were unexpectedly awesome (we weren’t too psyched initially, wanting to focus on the wildlife, but they were great, fascinating additions to our trip.) He picked us us right at the airport handled every single thing we needed. He was unbelievably great with our kids, who LOVED him. He kept them interested, made it fun, and his positivity and passion was a lesson all in itself. He even got a big kick when they serenaded a Simba high up on a rock with “the lion sleeps tonight”. What’s more, he has an eagle eye for spotting wildlife, is a master at maneuvering to get you the best position to see and photograph the animals, and is on great terms with many of the other guides, so they let him know by radio where they’ve spotted stuff. Best of all, because we dealt directly with him and not through an agency, our trip cost 25% less than other quotes I received I know Abi does custom trips for groups as few as two people all the way up to up to 35, and his partner Deb (from Philadelphia originally) is delightful as well. If you’d like to talk to me about our experience, by all means message me. I’m back in New Jersey sipping on the coffee they gave us as going away presents, and I am so thankful we had this experience.Posted on TripadvisorYuval G October safari with Abi The visit in Serengeti and the rest of Tanzania amazing nature was incredible. 5 days with Abi our tour guide made it terrific. Not only Abi knowledge is endless, his intuition and curiosity are an asset, he is a great guide and a storyteller, I am going recommend Abi to my closest friends and family . What a great tour !!!
